3. Fish

Fish is perhaps not the most obvious candidate among the most popular Armenian exports because of Armenia’s geography.

But, despite this, Armenia boasts very large reserves of fresh water. What is Lake Sevan worth – the largest lake in the Caucasus, with an area of 1240 km², inferior in terms of fresh water resources only to Lake Titicaca. In addition to lakes, there are about 9.5 thousand more rivers on the territory of Armenia, which makes it possible for a large number of aquatic creatures to grow.

In the waters of Armenia, there are about 30 species of fish belonging to the families of salmon, cyprinids, catfish, carps. Of these, 9 species are endemic (that is, they are found exclusively on the territory of Armenia). Endemics include: ishkhan or Sevan trout (represented by 4 species), Armenian roach, Armenian herring, Sevan kokhak, Sevan barbel, Armenian bream.

Thus, the demand for Armenian fish products is not surprising, since its uniqueness in the world leaves no competitors.

4. Dried fruits

Another unique product is, of course, dried fruit. It is a truly Armenian product, because nowhere in the world, it is impossible to find such a variety and taste as in Armenia. Two factors came together here: the Armenian climate and cultural centuries-old traditions. The southern hot sun provides not only the growth of various types of fruits, but also the high sugar content in the fruits, which makes the final product sweet and tasty without the addition of any sweeteners.

Dried fruits are a natural product, ideal for vegans or diabetics with a sweet tooth, as well as for people with dietary restrictions.

As for the cultural heritage, everything is as usual with Armenians, in abundance. If you look at the products in general, you can easily find dried fruits from any existing fruit, in the form of whole fruits, in the form of “fruit pita”, from a mix of fruits, with and without nuts, strung on a string and without a string, in general, on absolutely any taste.

This is a unique product that will not leave indifferent a person who has had the good fortune to try Armenian dried fruits at least once.

5. Conservation

All the same factors listed above, but in a different industry. And although canning is not a truly Armenian phenomenon, nevertheless, it has its own original feature, at least in that all possible types of fruits, vegetables and nuts are used for the production of conservation. This includes preserves, jams, jams, pickles, adjika and even grape leaves and much more.
