Maran winery''s origins date back to 1828-1830, when Sargis and his wife, Maran, emigrated from Persia to Armenia in the province of Vayots Dzor. In 1860 their son Harutyun planted the most beautiful garden in his native Artabuynk village and named it "Marani Aygi" (Maran's garden) in honor of his mother.
